Paredes’s largest body of work involves disguising her body within the rich hues of intricately patterned backdrops. Though derived from the natural world, the patterned fabric in which Paredes enmeshes herself, with the contours of her body rippling through the surrounding environment, insists on a human relationship with and interpretation of nature and its related themes of origins, camouflage, and transformation. Paredes meticulously sourced the English Sanderson textile in "In Garden of My Dreams," using it as a vehicle to consider the social processes of migration, assimilation, and identification.
