El Jarrón is a vase that mimics the structure of flora, breathing new life with its gold accents that resemble leaves and petals, a bold red band, and mosaic details that reflect light. Derived from his time at Casa Golinelli in Bologna, Italy, Leiva implores majolica techniques, which allows him to use a polychromatic color palette. Leiva honors and reimagines the jewel tones, over-the-top ornamentation, whimsical botanicals, and biblical allegories of majolica techniques that originated in Western Europe.
