I originally made the work for an exhibition on the theme of water organized by Kathy Armstrong at the Southwest School of Art. The images are direct tracings from photographs of sea foam that I took in various locations -- the Pacific Ocean near LA, the gulf at Galveston, and Hawaii. So although abstract, each image originated in a very specific place and time -- in the tide continuing over and over, but never the same shape twice. I am continuing to collect sea foam photographs as I travel, and am trying to squeeze in time with the Garden City work to continue using these sea foam images. - Connie Lowe
