The title of the exhibition takes inspiration from the Charles Bukowski poem "The Laughing Heart.” Armendariz has always been fascinated with the work of Bukowski and how his works vividly portray a particular perspective and viewpoint. "I am drawn to reckless individuals like Bukowski because I live vicariously through that. I'm very calculated, I think, and am a little bit more conservative about how I move in life."
