Diaz describes his artistic method as largely spontaneous and rooted in his current state, noting that nothing is premeditated. He explains his thought process: "I'll go in with some very vague notion like, 'I really want to do something where a painting has a lot of red in it, and maybe everything in a room is red.'" This notion is clearly evident in this painting, giving viewers a red-tinted lens through which to view the world.
