"Rebozo Study with Fabric" exemplifies Jimenez Underwood’s experimentation across multiple rebozo weaving series. In this short work, the artist uses wire, thread, and safety pins to create layered materials. Woven threads allow for transparency against folded silk fabric. This neutral base lets the pigmented threads take focus, with brilliant weaving in cotton and synthetic thread as well as metallic aluminum wire. By mixing vibrant hues and textures, Jimenez Underwood uses this rebozo study to explore new compositions for her ongoing Rebozo Series.
