This project focuses on memory and the landscape by casting pieces of plant matter in bronze to commemorate the connection that my grandmother and I have to a particular piece of land. The completed wall installation of glistening bronze cotton spurs acted as a threshold into a collective memory of star-like wild flowers on my grandmother’s property and also as an interconnected history of South Texas cotton fields.

Exhibitions

Creation of this work was made possible in part by an award from the Luminaria Artist Foundation with funding provided by the Department of Arts & Culture of the City of San Antonio. Exhibited at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens in October 2020.
