The title of the exhibition is inspired by the Charles Bukowski poem "The Laughing Heart.” Armendariz has always been fascinated by Bukowski's work, which vividly portrays a particular perspective. "I am drawn to reckless individuals like Bukowski because I live vicariously through them. I'm very calculated, I think, and am a little bit more conservative about how I move in life."
