The artist states that this is heavily inspired by the photography of Richard Avedon, who specialized in celebrity photography and finding new ways to perceive a person who is already seen everywhere. Martínez’s focus on stereotypes and the exclusion of Chicano art from institutions hones in on this vision and puts the viewer face-to-face with someone unknown yet familiar.Exhibitions
