This would become a great inspiration for the artist’s partner, Diana Molina, an established author and artist, who would go on to create intricate collages that utilized the horizontal and vertical registers of serapes to include the recontextualized designs of the beer labels and explore different patterns, as seen in works like Serape XX and Diamondback. “I conceded, after she did some truly wonderful ones, that she now owned the idea and has gone on to create other types of collages using her own unique sensibility,” recalls Martínez.Exhibitions
