"You’ve often heard that sometimes they’ll X-ray works, like a Leonardo DaVinci, and they’ll find that underneath, there was a drawing of a nude woman, or a pagan god… something that makes them think ‘this changes everything about how we have been thinking about this work’. So this work, 80’s Masterpiece, references the 1980’s, when there was a big resurgence of painting. It’s a bit more comical, instead of something that’s more profound."
