Martínez reimagines Mexican American culture through his own lens during, creating a presence of representation when it was lacking, and using his usual style of colorful backgrounds to contrast his subjects. Martínez takes his muses from all sorts of public mixed media, and brings life to a mixture of faces that represent a movement as well as the culture that he grew up in. Here we see "Sra Rivas During the 1930s" depicting a portrait of a woman in a moment in her life, contrasted by beautiful colors that represent the bright Mexican American culture.Exhibitions
