Hersúa

Created during the space age and culture of psychedelia, new technological developments around the world, and civil movements, the artwork explores new materials reflecting the era. Acrylic, plastic straws, and cardboard colored fractals make up a triangle representing the balance and harmony of sacred geometry. This artwork foreshadows the artist’s later sculptural works in public spaces. During his time at the National Autonomous University of Mexican (UNAM) he founded Arte Otro, an influential collective and, as stated by scholar and curator Cuauhtémoc Medina, Arte Otro was one of the earliest artistic collectives that emerged in 1960 since that was "the only way to survive in a climate of intolerance, repression or simple indifference."
