"Wishin You All the Best" is part of a series of carved oil paintings with animal-handled vases. Growing up in a bilingual household on the border, Armendariz experienced the bending of linguistic rules. Slang and misspellings are a nod to the organic ever-changing nature of language. Text contains both benevolent and malevolent meaning simultaneously; meaning that is more nuanced when combined. The content is referential of Indigenous ceremonial pottery elaborately adorned with philodendrons, lilies and Texas moths; all symbolic of growth, transformation and prosperity.
