“This Land is Your Land” consists of two small bottle forms in high fire stoneware with a wood ash glaze. These bottles were transported to the Rio Grande near Brownsville and placed on the United States bank of the river. I then sang the song, “This land is your land” over the bottles collecting the song and the air of that moment near sunset on March 12, 2020, as documented in the images.
The song, credited to Woody Guthrie, is based on American folk songs recorded by other artists.  It’s a deceptively simple song that encompasses complex ideas. Guthrie included many different verses including this one in the original recording which seemed very poignant today
There was a big high wall there that tried to stop me;
Sign was painted, it said private property;
But on the back side it didn't say nothing;
This land was made for you and me.
