On her use of art historical imagery the artist states, "The art historical imagery that I am interested in often centers around images of evocative forms of touch. There is a prominent neck stabbing scene in some of the works on paper, which is from a Piero Della Francesca mural cycle in Arezzo, Italy. There is a very brutal moment of violence in this tender and vulnerable location. The throat has a particular connection with speech, breath and the heartbeat, so it is metaphorical." - Gaby Collins-Fernandez
