This work is a commentary on the Black Lives Matter movement that arose after George Floyd's murder in May 2020. In this text-based piece, Diaz offers his own thoughtful yet satirical take on the phrase.
"I think this painting really has to do with who you are and where you’re coming from. That’s why I think the meaning of this painting is really up to the viewer to complete. Did you feel like it was a true statement or not? Did you feel like it was the voice of someone coming from the extreme right? Did you feel like it was a voice coming from an African American person? That’s what the idea behind the painting is meant to be… what your background is and where you’re coming from."
