'Together But Separate' is a brightly colored and appealing pair of work from Diaz's text-based series. In these paintings, Diaz takes a comedic and literal approach to the concept of a diptych. The title, though, adds a metaphorical meaning to the word itself.

"The word diptych has a religious meaning, describing two panels that form to make one work. These two panels also form one work. So that speaks to the two sides of where I was coming from. You see it’s just a yellow panel with words on it, so how could you get emotion out of it? But for me, it also began to be about relationships."
