Made with cotton bandanas, Campesino Silk Flag honors the field and farm workers who use them for protection from pesticides and the working class more broadly. The humble bandana is combined with Dupont silk and strong linen thread to represent the range and tenacity of the nation, creating “a flag for all.” The uniform stars found in the U.S. flag are replaced with free-floating flowers inspired by hieroglyphic Mayan-Olmec imagery, symbolically unifying the people with the land and its history.
