"The clouds are definitely a theme that tends to run through this newer work too. They signify transition or change: clouds moving across the sky. Depending on what they look like , it's kind of a sign of change in the weather. So I feel that that analogy applies to a kind of contemporary life, like our current moment. People may be a little uncertain. These kind of three years of pandemic and we are coming out of it. There's change I think happening but it's also kind of exciting, but also scary. You are not sure, you do not know, what the future holds for you. I think most of it from my view has a more positive spin than not, or hopeful I guess you could say."- Nate Cassie

Was taken at Magdalena, NM night of the opening of a show with Ethel and Alejandro Diaz at Hill Snyder’s
gallery. 9/2022.

"With both the trees and clouds the moments selected feel significant. The decision making in the selection process both in the decision to take the initial photo and in the selection of the photo to become a print is intuitive and based on formal considerations in addition to emotive ones. "-Nate Cassie

These prints are digitally produced photolithographs combined with traditional lithography made
from photographs taken in various locations around the world of clouds with a hint of the landscape
they hover over. The photographs are taken in moments of dramatic change and personal clarity.
The images are inverted inviting the viewer to imagine an alternative, but also contain a sense of
foreboding.
Through the inversion of the images, viewers are challenged to imagine an alternative reality,
where the familiar is transformed into the surreal.
The tumultuous nature of the clouds hints at unpredictability, reminding viewers of the constant
flux and uncertainty that accompanies moments of revelation.
The Cloud Cut series is an exploration of the intersection between the transient beauty of nature
and the profound moments of personal insight. Through these inverted cloudscapes, viewers are
invited to contemplate the balance between clarity and chaos.
