Santoscoy-McKilip seeks to reassess narratives that are told to be accurate or passed on through oral, familial, and communal histories. “Recently, I have been making collages where space and time are collapsed into a singular visual plane. Resourced images from the "gringo" lifestyle and adventure publication Desert Magazine set the background for ink drawings of the cosmos and colored pencil/paint symbols that play to the abstraction of a place that is both celebrated for its beauty but often misunderstood in the current political landscape of the US -Mexico border.”
