Inspired by the innovative mixografía printing process pioneered by the Rembas and Rufino Tamayo, Romero embarked upon a project at their renowned print studio to produce a series of distinct relief pieces. Working with wet handmade paper, he incorporated diverse impressed forms, signs, and symbols. Demonstrating a significant influence from his extensive Rio Grande textile collection, this unique mixografía features an array of symbols drawn from the American Southwest and Mexico, including a mask, heart, feather, kneeling figure, a snake (representing Quetzalcoatl) a portion of the United Farm Workers' winged symbol, and various geometric design elements.
