When she visited Pompeii, Sanchez was first introduced to Retablos and began to study the ancient process. True to retablo fashion, Rome features a composition divided into two panels depicting an everyday scene of a boy and a girl, with patron saints hovering over their beds. The text that frames the scenes is prayers spoken by the figures, petitioning for the safety and well-being of their families.
