Altar for Father McNally showcases a traditional ofrenda scene, a ritual put into practice around the time of Día de los Muertos / Day of the Dead celebrations. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Sanchez often brings the traditions of South Texas to other areas of her current city, Philadelphia, leading workshops that inform and celebrate her hometown culture. Sanchez recently took these traditions in stride when designing a community ofrenda at Saint John’s University in 2024, where visitors were invited to bring images of their deceased loved ones.
