"Your Wild Garden is where I want to live mas y mas y mas," is part of a series of carved oil paintings featuring animal-handled vases, inspired by Italian Rococo and Moche Peruvian ceramic objects. Growing up in a bilingual household on the border, Armendariz experienced the bending of linguistic rules. Radio stations played Freddy Fender and other artists who sang in both languages. The slang and deliberate misspellings nod to language's organic, ever-changing nature. The text contains both benevolent and malevolent meanings simultaneously. The content references vases and flowers received at birth and death, elaborately adorned with philodendrons, lilies, and Texas moths—all symbols of growth, transformation, and prosperity.
