Symbols in the artist’s work are repeated to the point of exhaustion throughout multiple compositions and bodies of work. The symbols include houses, birds, and plants, and some serve as stand-ins for larger societal issues. Her figures are often layered, distorted, and re-worked, utilizing her time and technique to self-reflect on loss and protection. “The birds held the most profound significance - they represented the souls lost at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. As a mother of a child of the same age, I painted birds and broken planes to process unimaginable grief.”
