Nate Cassie’s works on paper are tranquil, simple designs meant to provoke thought in viewers. "Thend" combines the words ‘the’ and ‘end’, illustrated with simply silver leaf on paper. Cassie presents to us the immediacy of a beginning and an end so close together that they melt into one, blurring the space in between. Cassie’s thematic practice focuses on the space between, attending to a place otherwise lived in the past rather than centered. “It’s the place where a rub or a nudge occurs—the space in between layers, the space in between object and reflection, the space in between myself and others,” – Nate Cassie.
