"On Demand' reflects the artist’s personal postpartum breastfeeding experience while also addressing how breastfeeding is viewed in modern society. Datchuk states, “Breastfeeding is unpaid, gendered labor that causes women to suffer economic, mental, physical, emotional, and political exhaustion. Having navigated the reproductive complex for over ten years—from endometriosis and infertility to pregnancy and postpartum—I question both how society polices women’s bodies and how our labor is valued worldwide. I see women as the foundation of everything, yet I witness how systems fail to support us.”
