From the Greek mythology, Daphne is the personification of the laurel tree. She was walking in the woods when she sensed danger behind her. Hurrying up, running exhausted, she cried for help to Gaia the goddess who transformed her into a tree, perfectly camouflaging herself as part of the forest. In Gardenia Dream, the artist's arm appears as the central subject, blending with the foliage, alluding to human limbs as roots or branches.
