Created during the Space Age, the culture of psychedelia, new technological developments worldwide, and civil movements, the artwork explores new materials that reflect the era. Acrylic, plastic straws, and colored cardboard fractals form a triangle representing the balance and harmony of sacred geometry. This artwork foreshadows the artist’s later sculptural works in public spaces. During his time at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), he founded Arte Otro, an influential collective. As scholar and curator Cuauhtémoc Medina notes, Arte Otro was one of the earliest artistic collectives to emerge in 1960, "the only way to survive in a climate of intolerance, repression or simple indifference."
