Adjacent Impression 1.4 is one of Lester’s most ambitious works. The artwork combines hand-cut drafting film, color pencils, graphite, acrylic paint, plexiglass, wood, and shadow. The artist reimagines what constitutes the boundaries of botanical art, with the work taking the form of a manufactured organism. The entangled elements create a sense of captured movement, possessing a natural sway. It calls to mind that nature, despite its asymmetry, can be beautiful.
