In Cholo Harpys, White Fence, East LA, Iturbide captures the gang's hand signals and common culture. She pictures a friend from one of her main subjects, who wears a flat-brim black baseball cap with the letters WF printed in bold white letters under the brim. Strapped to his waistband is a fixed-blade knife, a subtle nod to the power and violence that silently followed the reputation of the gang.
