Created during Puerta’s residency at the Lower East Side Printshop from 2015-2016, these silkscreens reflect a quilt of anatomical and botanical complexity. Puerta challenges preconceived notions of nature vs. the human-made, and her work is conceptual and intuitive as she works in both abstraction and experimentation. G-Variation I is a hybrid of these themes. The artist interchanges the natural and human worlds, emphasizing the fragile patterns and syntax that make up those two worlds.
