The de la Torre brothers employ wit and humor throughout their oeuvre to examine subjects such as environmental degradation and human overconsumption. Taking cues from the Dr. Seuss fable “The Lorax,” their sculpture “Lorax Salute” offers a unique vision of the iconic forest protector. In this iteration, the Lorax shifts from a whimsical cartoon into a frustrated, grotesque figure, challenging audiences to consider the heavy impact of the contemporary human footprint on our environment.
