The second photobook published by Graciela Iturbide, after "Avándaro," was published in 1971. The National Indigenous Institute commissioned Graciela Iturbide to portray the daily life of Indigenous peoples in Mexico. For this purpose, she chose the Seri tribe in the state of Sonora. This photobook exposes the reality of people influenced by the modern Western world, who subsist in precarious conditions and social marginalization, yet who preserve their ancient culture and popular traditions.
