"Missing is the portrait of Julie Jesenia, a 13-year-old girl who disappeared in the neighborhood of La Manuelita in the north-west of the city of Bogotá in 1996. Although there were several hypotheses, her case has remained open since it was impossible to clarify the circumstances of the disappearance. Some clues led to what might have been a kidnapping, others clues suggest traffickers or urban militias. Some witnesses who saw her the day she disappeared, retracted their commentary shortly after making their statements. Another hypothesis suggested that it was an escape and some media affirm that there was mistreatment within the family, however emphatically denied. Julie Jesenia's mother did not lose hope of finding her, and years later she kept clamoring for her with a photograph of Julie Jesenia in her hand. The image that the mother showed was almost erased by the time that had elapsed. The portrait was done by puncturing paper sheets, emphasizing the absence and emptiness left by Julie Jesenia. One of the techniques related to engraving on metal is the drypoint technique. This technique omits the traditional lines, replacing them with points. In this case, I replaced the points with perforations." -Johanna Calle
